CHARACTER BIOS
APRIL A true free spirit: a wild & righteous young lady. She cleans up well. She is trying out lesbianism. Her motto: “I’m over it!” Her other motto: “I’m out of here!”
CLARE A dreamer, and she’ll do what it takes to achieve her artistic vision. With her mind constantly perusing artistic thoughts & goals, she’s a bit absent-minded and has migraines.
JUNE April and Clare’s mother, a former music follower. She’s still goofy but has a strict side. Proud owner of a minivan, believes in the benefits of Jazzercize. Her big downfall: diagnosing other people’s problems. Her hero: Jane Goodall. Her enemy: M D Chapman.
HANK June’s boyfriend, & probably the girls’ dad, an absentminded teacher. Unanticipated involvement in the Vietnam War left Hank struggling to tell the difference between fact and fiction. He spends spare time in the family’s garage, making elaborate moveable sculptures.
DAR April’s love interest, a drummer, baker & origami artist.
KEITH The girls’ uncle and their mentor in free spirited fun. He has a raw & humorous truth about him. He’s sweet and sarcastic.
JACKIE Teacher at a music school that the girls have attended.
ANDREW One of the girls’ happy-go-lucky best school friends. Andrew is smart-mouthed, level- headed & relaxed. He’s a skater & peacemaker between his friends, who are largely artists, and, in his opinion, way over-emotional.
ARTHUR The girls’ & Andrew’s good friend, a charming young intellectual with a rebellious streak.
The PHOTOGRAPHER A photographer who enjoys mysteries & symbolic jokes. He shoots with the girls after meeting Clare at a club.
COUNSELOR Overworked, caffeinated, and amazing, she runs the FCIC visited by June & Clare.
MICHAEL & BROOKE Shelley is a nice girl, very well- composed and professional. Michael used to be a Texan sportscaster, and still has that enthusiasm to his on-camera personality. They work for Channel 18, a TV channel, hosting BAND-OFF, a campy youth reality show. April & Clare run away from home to be on this show.
